Outdoor Adventure Day Camp

On a day off school, get the kids outside and active! Take on the winter by trying a variety of snow activities, including Cross-Country ski, snowshoe hike, snow shelter building, geocaching, kick-sledding, and more! Our trained instructors will get your young winter adventurer on the path to winter fun! Camp is held at Baylor Regional Park located at 10775 County Rd. 33, Norwood Young America, MN 55397. This program is offered in partnership with Carver County Parks.

Spring Break Outdoor Day Camp

Staying home for Spring Break? Get the kids outside and active with a variety of activities! Depending on the weather, activities could include archery, slackline, disc golfing, outdoor cooking, geocaching, cross country

Firearms Safety Training

This course is open to all interested youth at least 11 years old at the start of the class date. This course includes all aspects of gun training, bow hunting, first aid and more. Minnesota Firearms Safety Certification will be issued upon successful completion of the course. A parent or guardian must attend the first class. This class is sponsored by the Carver County Sportmen’s Club. Space is limited at 60 participants. Registration begins on Tuesday, January 28th at 7:30am in the Waconia Community Education office located at 516 Industrial Blvd.  Parents/guardians MUST register in person, there is a specific DNR form that needs to be filled out and signed
which cannot leave our office. Sorry, there are NO REFUNDS/CREDITS/Transfers once you register for this training.

{YEL} Flag Football Camp After School

Get ready to dash to the end zone with our high-octane Flag Football course. Develop your basic passing, catching, defending, and teamwork skills. Safety and sportsmanship are emphasized. Each week we do basic skill-building exercises followed by action-packed games to cement those skills. Sure to energize young athletes! Waconia Beach Breakers Obstacle Run

New Location for 2020! Join Community Education and Thrivent Financial for a great adventure. This is an obstacle course fun run for kids and adults. The course is approximately 1.5 miles and will have 10 - 12 obstacles along the route. Kids will be broken up into different age categories depending on how many kids register. Participants will get wet and dirty. Please wear old clothes and shoes. This is a fun run, there will be no chip timing or awards. Proceeds of this event will help the local School PTO’s in the Waconia area and the Inclusive Playground. All kids and adults are welcome! The event begins and ends at Bayview Elementary School in Waconia. Meet on the blacktop near the North parking lot.

Waconia Youth Paddle School

The Waconia Youth Paddle School is an outdoor educational program geared towards the younger paddle generation. (ages 10 -14). The paddle school is taught by an experienced group of paddle guides from Spokes Paddle Company, which is based in the Lake Waconia area. All guides used within this program are local public school teachers that are passionate about introducing the outdoors to the next generation of explorers. The Youth Paddle School curriculum is designed to instill leadership skills, a love of the outdoors and a basic knowledge of paddle sports. All paddle classes will be taught using the Spokes fleet of Current Designs transitional sea kayaks and our touring Stand Up Paddle Boards. While on the water our students will be focusing on 3 BIG foundations: 1) Water Safety 2) paddle technique/craft control and 3) Outdoor Leadership. Kids will leave this class with a new life skill and will have a better sense of how to safely explore water environments. ALL paddle & safety equipment is included. All participants should wear swim wear, bring a bottle of water & bring along Sun block and/or sun shading hats/sunglasses. Participants must be able to swim. Day One: Kayak, Day Two: Stand Up Paddle Board Day Three: Student Choice. In case of bad weather Friday will be the rain date, In case of bad weather please subscribe to summer RAINEDOUT notifications on our website prior to camp beginning.

“Game On” Camp

GAME ON camp is all about GAMES for boys and girls ages 4-6. We will introduce campers to all their favorite playground games: Ships Across the Ocean, Animal Tag, Freeze Tag, Red Light-Green Light, Kick ball, Capture the Flag, DuckDuck-Grey Duck, Dodge Ball (with soft sponge balls), Red Rover-Red Rover, 500, Sharks and Minnows, Simon Say’s and Steal the Bacon. These fun activities will help your child develop coordination, flexibility and also, beneficial for each child’s physical and mental development. Our staff are trained to meet the special needs of young children. Youth to staff ratio is 8:1. Campers will receive a water bottle and sportsmanship award. All equipment provided. If weather does not permit the camp will be held indoors in the WMS Gym.

{YEL}Goofy Sports Camp

Stay active and get silly this summer in the {YEL!} Goofy Sports Camp. What’s so goofy about it? Day One: Goofy Golf - students play “golf” using tennis racquets and balls, a soccer ball, a hula hoop, etc. Day Two: Goofy Trick Shots - students try trick shots using frisbees, trick footballs, and more. Day Three: Goofy Soccer - Students play soccer, but with a hula hoop, bean bags, etc. Day Four: Goofy Olympic Decathlon - An Olympic type decathlon, but wackier. Stay silly this summer while keeping outside and active. Please supply your child with sunscreen, a water bottle, and a
peanut free snack for the morning. If weather does not permit the camp will be held indoors in the Bayview Gym.

Mini-Sport Camp

An introductory program designed for young children. Minisport helps children explore baseball, soccer, lacrosse, flag football in a fun and non-competitive setting. No pressure, just lots of fun while these young children participate in all four activities every day. Our Mini-Sport staff is committed to helping the young athletes start off on the right foot as they take their first steps into sports. Please wear sunscreen and bring shin guards, tennis shoes, a baseball/softball glove, water bottle and snack with you each day. Campers will receive a water bottle and sportsmanship award. August Summer Recreation Camp

Join us the last week of summer playing your favorite games either outside in the green space or in the gym. We’ll play organized games such as scooter relays, parachute, battle ball, tag games, capture the ball and much more. Half the time each day will also include free time on the playground. For many of the organized games we will split up the younger and older kids. Please wear your athletic shoes, clothes and bring a nut free snack and water bottle with you each day.
