Yoga with Melissa

Inspired by my experience of practicing yoga as a tool for overcoming body image issues, humbled by motherhood and empowered by facilitation skills from eight years of classroom teaching experience, I am committed to helping others cultivate confidence and realize their own beauty and strength, through the power of yoga & community. I off er mindfulnessbased yoga classes that allow you to honor your body with what it needs, provide the movement your body craves and find pleasure in the way your body feels while moving with your breath.I am certified through Inner Fire Yoga Studio in Madison, Wisconsin as a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher. I am trained as a Karma Kids Yoga Instructor. I hold a Masters Degree in Elementary Education. I taught for five years with the little om BIG OM team in Madison. I currently live in Minnetrista,
Minnesota with my husband and three children. I am honored to hold a space for you to have an experience, exploring your own beauty & strength, while moving & breathing together in community. After School Teen Yoga

This class will show teens the positive impact yoga can have on their lives, both mentally and physically. From enhancing their performance in sports to encouraging mindfulness day to day. The class will have a topic to discuss each class, such as mindfulness, muscles used for poses, finding their Bliss and then the rest of class we will practice yoga.

Yoga Instructor Mary McCarthy Bio

Mary McCarthy, owner of BodyWisdom, has been in the health and wellness industry as a personal trainer and group instructor for all ages for over 25 years. She understands the importance of yoga practice for everyone but especially children. She believes establishing yoga in young lives paths the way to a healthier centered lifestyle. All classes are unique and content age appropriate.

Parent/Child Classes Ages 4-7

Parent and child will learn yoga poses and relaxation techniques to keep their bodies strong and flexible through stories linked with traditional (and not so traditional) poses. Children will explore their creativity and intuition through body movement. Partner poses with parent and child will deepen their bond of trust and nurturing. A truly positive and fun experience between parent and child. If possible, please bring a yoga mat; there will be mats available if you cannot. Light tummy is advised and please bring a water bottle.

Family and Group Yoga

This class is for children that are ages 8-14 (boys and girls) and parents. Family yoga is dance, gymnastics, meditating, acting and visualization rolled up in a 45 minute practice of fun. It will build stamina and self confidence thru games of self regulation and focus, traditional and not so traditional yoga poses and breathing exercises as well as enhancing strength, flexibility and balance. All family members feel invigorated and calm at the same time. Families increase their dialog by sharing in this time together as well as all the other benefits. Light tummy is advised. We go upside down.
