Track & Field Camp Skyhawks

Skyhawks Track & Field was developed to introduce young athletes to a sport rich in tradition and history. These programs combine technical development and fundamental techniques with safety while keeping a major focus on fun! Using special equipment, our staff teach the standard track & field events: long distance, sprints, soft hurdles, relays, shot put, discus, and standing long-jump. Our exercises and drills prepare athletes for a future in cross-country, track & field events, and distance running while inspiring a love for running and being active. The fundamentals of body positioning, stride, proper stretching, and cool-down techniques are covered in this unique program. Participants will put it all together for one fun-filled day at the end-of-the-week track meet!

Waconia Youth Running Camp 1st-5th

Join us this summer and learn how fun fitness can be! Bring your friends and make lots of new ones as we learn the benefits of a healthy, active lifestyle. Race into summer and prepare for an exciting and challenging camp experience that will include; Experienced, professional instructional staff including high school athletes. FUN and exciting individual and group activities each day. Team-building, challenge courses and GAMES! Personal fitness measurements to chart individual progress. Instruction and discussion of proper nutritional health and dietary choices. A FUN RUN and recognition ceremony on the final day of camp. It weather does not permit, camp will move indoors to Bayview Cafeteria.

Summer Distance Running Camp

Daily practice sessions will begin with a large group warm-up on the Bayview track followed by a specifically designed distance driven workout. Runners of all abilities are welcome as each workout will be segmented into a variety of ability levels. Athletes will fi nd their place within this camp and will improve their personal fitness levels. Camp Participants Goals: Gain a deeper understanding of proper distance running training; Make training fun and show benefits of group training atmosphere; Improved and Balanced Personal Fitness; Encourage athletes to train and prepare for upcoming sport seasons. The basic training and team building philosophy for these camps is based on current tactics used within both the Waconia Cross Country and Track & Field Distance Teams.

Wildcat Track & Field League

Participants will learn the different events & races of Track and Field throughout the weeks. They will compete against the other athletes during the duration of the program. On the final 2 days we will have a full track meet with all of the events learned throughout the weeks including long distance races, relays, long jump, discuss(Frisbee) throw, shot put(ball toss) & mini hurdles. Participants will have an opportunity to earn ribbons at the final Track Meet in the 4th-8th grade program. This league is for ANY skill level. Please come wearing appropriate shoes, running apparel and bring a water bottle.
